Membership Classes
NOTE: AHANA requires any member practising as an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) to hold a Practising Membership. Associate Members, Student Members, Non-Practising Members and Life Members must apply for a Practising Membership within 30 days of commencing practise as an Allied Health Assistant.
Practising Memberships
- Eligibility: AHANA has three classes of Practising Membership. These classes are for individuals currently practising as Allied Health Assistants, or who intend to practise within the next 12 months.
- Your suitability for the practising membership class will be assessed based on your application. Please provide detailed information about your qualifications and experience for an accurate assessment.

Student Membership
- Eligibility: for individuals who are not practising as Allied Health Assistants and who are enrolled or studying a course of study approved by the Board for the purpose of qualifying as an Allied Health Assistant.
- Required upload: Evidence of applicant's confirmation of enrolment and anticipated end date.
- Note: Progression to Practising Member (Certified) requires completion of a Certificate IV or above in Allied Health Assistance.

Associate Membership
- Eligibility: for individuals who are not practising as Allied Health Assistants or enrolled or studying in an Australian Certificate III or above in Allied Health Assistance.
- Note: this classification is for teachers, trainers, retired AHAs, non-practising AHAs (who have not previously held an AHANA Practising Membership), AHPs and other AHA allies (subject to Eligibility - see above)

Organisation Membership
- Eligibility: for organisations which employ, educate or support Allied Health Assistants.

Non-Practising Membership
- Eligibility: for individuals who have previously held a Practising Membership.
- Note: As this is AHANA's founding membership year, there are no eligible applicants for this membership class at this time.
Life Membership
- Eligibility: available by invitation only, this class is for individuals who the Board determines have rendered outstanding service to the Allied Health Assistant profession over an extended period.

Some applications are subject to an application fee, which is non-refundable in the event membership is not granted to you.
The application fee will not be charged in subsequent years unless the applicant: allows their membership to lapse and needs to reapply for (rather than simply renewing) their existing membership; or applies for a new class of membership which is subject to an application fee.
