Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) is the national peak body for the speech pathology profession in Australia. Speech Pathologists are Allied Health Professionals with expertise in the assessment and treatment of communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
SPA has published some basic information about the value and role of Allied Health Assistants to the Speech Pathology profession within Australia, in addition to its Position Statement on Working with Support Workers.
For further information about SPA, and SPA's contact information, please see the SPA website.
The Victorian Department of Health issued Supervision and Delegation Framework for Allied Health Assistants (2012) was developed to aid the use of AHA's in Victoria and more broadly, not just in the Victorian public sector, and includes a specific section for recommendations with respect to use of AHAs in Speech Pathology.
