Expanding the Effective Use and Employment of AHAs in Disability Services

Thursday 03, Oct 2024
Session Overview

On 24 September 2024, AHANA held a session for disability service providers to promote and support the use of allied health assistance within the disability sector "Effectively Using Allied Health Assistants in the Disability Sector; Navigating Certification and Quality Assurance in the NDIS".

The purpose of the session was to support disability service providers to understand how to integrate and maintain AHAs into their organisations and operations, in a safe way, by selecting or promoting AHAs who have committed to the high quality standards of an AHANA practising membership. The session addressed how National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) providers can leverage off the AHANA certification scheme to increase their capacity to meet imminent changes to the NDIS, such as likely requirements for workers to maintain registration and continuing professional development.

Key topics covered include:

  • Understanding the role of AHANA in workforce certification and quality assurance.
  • Strategies for developing a self-regulated workforce that meets industry standards.
  • Practical tools and resources available through AHANA to support workforce development and compliance.

This webinar is just one of the ways that AHANA is advocating for AHAs, and educating and informing on the value of integrating AHAs - with the right frameworks and support systems - into organisations right across the health and care sectors, for the benefit of the organisations they work for, the clients they provide services to and for the AHAs themselves.
